Lagos State Task Force Demolishes Illegal Shanties Used as Criminal Hide-Outs

Operatives of the Lagos State Task Force have demolished more than 2500 illegal shanties constructed by criminals and hoodlums at one of the most dreadful hideouts at White Sand, Jakande Estate, along Lekki-Beach Road, Lekki-Epe Express Way, Lagos.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi who led the demolition exercise disclosed that many of the demolished illegal shanties were hideouts where criminals and hoodlums freely smoked indian hemp and engaged in prostitution.

He stated that the Lagos State Government had invested heavily on infrastructural development across the State to attract investors but illegal activities perpetuated by criminals and hoodlums around these areas could discourage both foreign and local investors.

Mr. Egbeyemi said innocent members of the public who had complained bitterly about activities of these criminals around Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah could now sleep with their two eyes closed.

Some of the residents expressed appreciation to the State Government for removing the illegal structures that housed the criminals, saying the demolition exercise carried out was timely and should spread to other areas.
