The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf has expressed confidence in the ability of the ongoing Ibile Youth Academy to produce reputable future leaders among their peers.
Speaking at the flag-off of the Academy camping exercise at Ipaja Youth Hostel, the Commissioner noted that the training will not only instill personal development and transformation in participants but will also inculcate in them the virtues of citizenship, leadership and volunteerism for self-development.
Akinbile-Yussuf, who was represented by the Director, Admin & Human Resources, Mr. Lanre Rufai, said the first phase of the leadership training exercise will further expose the participants to challenging tasks, outdoor activities and detailed leadership topics that will unearth their hidden potentials as well as ignite their creative thinking abilities.
“This camping exercise will help you push boundaries, build confidence, think outside the box and enhance your personal development. It will also help you to chart the path for a progressive and prosperous adult life while it promises to be a life-changing experience”, the Commissioner said.
She further disclosed that any participant who distinguishes himself or herself at the end of the camping exercise will be named the State Youth Ambassador 2017 while the other outstanding participants from each division would also be named Divisional Youth Ambassadors.
The Commissioner, therefore, implored all the participants to exhibit a high level of commitment, responsibility and decorum in the course of the training exercise.
Ibile Youth Academy is a leadership training programme initiated by the State Government for youths resident in the State.
