Democracy Day: We Must Keep Hope Alive Despite Challenges – Olulade

Member representing Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Segun Olulade has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari,  despite the challenges currently confronting the nation.

Olulade in his message to mark the country’s 2016 Democracy Day, noted that whatever the situation may be at the moment, democracy remains the best form of government anywhere in the world, despite its limitations and challenges.

The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Health Services, explained that the current economic situation in the country has become a source of concern to a lot of Nigerians, “but we don’t have to lose hope in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“As Nigerians, we must continue to pray for this administration and also for our nascent democracy to continue to grow because the freedom of choice is one of the most important ingredients of the democratic system.

“Also the freedom to choose leaders makes democracy fashionable and any system that subverts the will of the people destroys the progress of the society.

“It is a known fact that Nigerians trooped out in their millions to vote for President Buhari on March 28, 2015. So, we all should know that no democratically elected government would intentionally hurt the voters that put it into office,” he said

“We should not lose hope because the current challenges are just temporary. Nigerians should trust the capacity of the current government to confront these problems and provide lasting solutions.

“I am more than ever hopeful that very soon, Nigerians will begin to witness the positive results of what the present administration is doing. We should all patiently await the results of the current policies and actions of government which I believe will soon begin to materialise positively,” Olulade said.

The lawmaker also used the occasion to commend the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his achievements in the last one year, noting that the Governor has been able to shame all his critics.

“Today, Lagosians are proud of their Governor and the support he is getting on daily basis can’t be quantified. I can confidently and boldly say that I am proud to be part of this administration. I call on all Lagosians to continue to support this government and expect more goodies to come,” he added.
