Lagos – A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Segun Olulade, on Monday urged Nigerians to give more time to President Muhammadu Buhari for the delivery of his campaign promises.
Olulade, representing Epe II Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, made the appeal in a statement he personally signed in Lagos.
He urged Nigerians to support the President in his efforts to reposition the country, noting that the nation’s problems could not be solved in one year.
“What the administration requires at this critical stage is the collective support and understanding of all Nigerians.
“The administration inherited myriads of problems and Nigerians should be patient and align with the change mantra of the Federal Government to reposition the country.
“President Buhari needs more time to actualize his change agenda. Nigerians should give him their support and prayers and know that in no distant period, the desired change being advocated by the present government would manifest.
“It is clear that every Nigerian wants this change to happen as soon as possible, but we must know that change itself takes gradual steps; it doesn’t happen overnight, ” he said.
On the complaints by some Nigerians that the President travels a lot, Olulade urged Nigerians not to take the travelling as a waste of the country’s resources.
“The President needs at least one year to consolidate on the promises he made to Nigerians; we only need to be patient and very soon, the President’s international trips will begin to yield results.
“The recent visit of the President to China is another milestone towards building a strong alliance that will bring development to Nigeria. Good things are coming to Nigeria.
“I believe that the current situation is temporary. I believe our President is doing everything possible to bring the suffering of our people to an end,” he said.
The lawmaker advised Nigerians, irrespective of religious and political affiliations, to pray for God’s intervention in the nation’s socio-economic and political affairs. (NAN)
