The General Manager, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency, Mrs. Abimbola Jijoho-Ogun has charged horticulturists to maintain a lush green in all State parks and gardens assigned to them in order to sustain the greening initiative of the State Government.
Mrs. Jijoho-Ogun who stated this during the quarterly meeting with horticulturists stressed that maintenance of the gardens is essential to enhancing the aesthetics value of the State, hence the efforts of the Agency should not be sabotaged by the lackadaisical attitude of some horticulturists.
She maintained that failure of any horticulturist to adhere to standards set by the Agency will lead to sanctions and therefore urged them to brace up to challenges of the tasks assigned to them.
The General Manager further stated that the green hands posted to all horticulturists must be engaged and put to maximum use.
The engagement of the over 500 green hands is in line with the policy of the Ambode administration aimed at providing employment to youths in the State and as such, the green hands have been trained adequately on the maintenance of gardens, she added.
Jijoho-Ogun implored all CEOs not to reject any green hands officer deployed to them but engage them maximally, pointing out that all hands must be on deck to maintain a greener and healthier Lagos.
