Lagos State Debunks Newspaper Report on N25 Billion ETF

Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti has reaffirmed that the N25bn Employment Trust Fund (ETF) programme, remains an initiative of the State Government and does not have any affiliation with the Federal Government.

The clarification is a response to a newspaper report attributing the ETF programme to the Federal government.

The Commissioner disclosed that the trust fund was initiated by the present administration under the leadership of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign to reduce the rate of unemployment and empower residents in the State.

He further stated that the newspaper erroneously misquoted him saying, “The N25 billion Employment Trust Fund of the Federal Government was creating wealth and employment in Lagos State”.

While urging the general public to disregard the inaccurate and misleading statement by the newspaper, Durosinmi-Etti restated the commitment of the Lagos State Government to ensure a transparent disbursement of the ETF to qualified entrepreneurs residing in the State.
