No fewer than one million bags of rice will be produced by the Lagos State Government in the next three months, the Special Adviser to Governor on Food Security, Mr. Sanni Okanlawon has said.
Okanlawon, who spoke, recently in Lagos, explained that with the scale up of its rice processing plant from 2.5 metric tons per hour to 42.5 metric tons per hour as well as the acquisition of lands from neighbouring states, the state will be able to produce over 1,020,000 bags of rice by December, 2016.
At a press briefing in Lagos to herald the State’s Food Security Summit and Exhibition billed to hold 10th through November 11, 2016, the Special Adviser said efforts were ongoing to complement the recently upscaled 42.5 metric tons processing plant with another 40 metric tons processing plant.
He said: “By December, we should be able to deliver 1,020,000 bags of rice to Lagosians. Our Lake Rice will help us to address the issue of hunger and help our people to be nutritious.”
