EMPOWERED HANDS BREED HOPE

THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY HON. SEGUN OLULADE ON THE OCASSION OF ‘ELENIYAN CONSTITUENCY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME 2014’ HELD AT POBO COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL, POKA, EREDO LCDA – EPE, ON SUNDAY 31ST AUGUST 2014

PROTOCOLS

Today is another historical moment for the good people of Epe Constituency II as I unfold yet another facet of Eleniyan empowerment programme.

On behalf of myself, my family and the entire people of this great constituency, I want to welcome all our guests far and near to Epe, the land of aquatic splendour.

In the spirit of ensuring that dividends of democracy and good governance are delivered to our people; and given that the policy thrust of our great party (All Progressives Congress – APC) is people driven, today’s event buttresses our commitment at ensuring that true CHANGE is achieved for our people. A CHANGE that guarantees a qualitative standard of living for everyone irrespective of class, creed, ethnic and religious affiliations; a CHANGE that is destined to take our nation to a greater eight from the current deplorable status.

As your representative in the hallowed chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly, I have done nothing safe to speak on your behalf and in your best interest; I have communicated your needs and aspirations as a community through the representation mandate given to me few years ago; I have projected our community (Epe Constituency II) as a community with enormous economic opportunities, vast land-mass and an investment haven for Lagosians, Nigerians and even people from the diaspora.

In the last 3 years and 2 months, I have built a reputation for our community as a constituency that stands as the future of a new Lagos. With 61 communities around us, and the accumulation of blessings of 14 royal fathers, which is the highest among all constituencies in Lagos State, Epe Constituency II cannot afford a passive representation at a legislative House that is as dynamic as Lagos Assembly. That truly motivated me to strive above common standard at ensuring competitive representation with your mandate.

Besides the business of law-making which I have your mandate, we have worked further to touch the lives of our people in various communities. The youths, women, aged, widows, indigent students and more have benefited from ‘Eleniyan Community Empowerment Programmes’ in the past; today, it is the turn of some other people while many more are still going to benefit in the nearest future.

Today is a give-back day. It is a day set aside to give glory and honour to God and to re-echo the supremacy of the power of the people in governance. Today is your day!

As your humble steward, I am mandated to carry the entire communities along on our collective journey to greatness. That is why I deployed all channels of communication (conventional and modern) for reaching back to the constituents from time to time which has generated tremendous results. In the last 3 years and 2 months as your representative, I have convey quarterly meetings with stake holders and leaders in every sector till date as a feedback mechanism for ensuring that the entire people of Epe constituency II are well abreast of developments, actions and issues from your House, the Lagos House of Assembly.

My constituency publication (EleniyanCares), personal and official Social Media platforms, bulk sms, website (www.eleniyancares.com) and direct reportage are consistently activated to communicate outcomes of my efforts in the Lagos Assembly.

Today, in response to my constituents’ pressing needs, I have decided to distribute items that require no secondary tools to facilitate empowerment. They include:

Sewing machines, Hair dryers, Grinding machines, Popcorn making machines, Clippers, Deep Freezers, Vulcanizer machines, Bicycles, Rain Boots, Rain Coats, Flash Lights, Television Sets, Mobile Phones, Fumigating Machines, Food items and cash for Elderly and Widows.

We have done it before and we are doing it again. Over 600 beneficiaries have been carefully selected across board through nominations from various associations and groups to get empowerment tools today. In as much as empowerment remains a constant but gradual thing, I appeal to all and sundry who are still hopeful for this kind of benefit to hold firm to their belief in God and our humble efforts that their time is definitely sooner.

Today is not a speech making day but empowerment day. Permit me therefore to quickly express my heartfelt and deepest appreciations to those who have inspired these efforts one way or the other. While my gratitude and appreciation to God Almighty remains firm and absolute, I wish to sincerely thank our national leader HE Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose cup of wisdom we are all drinking from in providing good leadership for our people.

I thank the Governor, HE Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN for providing best practices in governance in the State. My gratitude also goes to my Legislative Mentor and inspiration, Rt. Hon Adeyemi Sabit Ikuforiji, Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly for his leadership and unbeatable model in legislative authority.

To our Apex Leader in Epe Division Alhaji Sakiru Seriki (Bamu) I am most grateful for his unparallel leadership roles and un-repented, unalloyed support. To all our leaders across the State, I am most thankful as words are not enough to express my hearty gratitude to you. I am most humbled by your constant provision of a clear roadmap for us to follow in leadership and governance.

To the good people of Epe Constituency II, male and female, old and young, I want to thank you sincerely for your unrelenting support and trust. Surely, your mandate is in a safe hand; and I can assure you that with the sustainability of your trust as evident in the ELENIYAN +4 PROJECT, together, we can make greater things happen in our constituency. Without you, there cannot be an ELENIYAN. Truly, eniyan laso mi! I thank you all!!

While I implore you to keep your supports steady on a network that provides constant services, I appreciate especially all Party Leaders, Members,Movements, Groups and Associations that have identified with my aspirations. The endorsements and callings by various platforms for Eleniyan to proceed with the good work are overwhelming. I stand on the threshold of your mandate and I have heeded your call to continue representing you in Lagos State House of Assembly (8th Assembly) come 2015 till 2019 by God’s grace.

Long live Epe Constituency II
