Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) has disclosed that the registration of children between the ages of 0 – 15 is on-going in all Local Governments, Local Council Development Areas and LASRRA Head office at No 4, Registration Close, off Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
Mr. Babatunde Adele, Assistant Director, Public Affairs, stated this while addressing residents of Agege, Orile Agege, Ikeja and Onigbongbo Local Governments recently on the importance of the exercise, noting that it is only the parents or guardians that can register their wards within this age bracket.
He explained that the presence of the children is not required since they have to be in schools but the parents who intend to register their wards should visit the registration unit with two passport photographs of each child and the birth certificate.
He pointed out that the residents’ registration exercise is very important as it will be used by the Lagos State Government to provide demographic data for efficient planning and proper allocation of resources in the State.
It will be recalled that the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency was established in 2011 by an enactment (LASRRA Law No. 21 of June) and empowered to operate residents’ database and identification card programme for Lagos State.
